In April 2022 was the final stage before commissioning our first project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: a complex production facility for Alshaya Group. This group is a dynamic family-owned company, first established in Kuwait in 1890. Now it has projects in multiple sectors, including Fashion, Food, Health & Beauty, Pharmacy, Home Furnishings, and Leisure & Entertainment.

The project is part of Saudi Vision 2030 and aims to reduce Saudi Arabia’s dependence on oil, diversify its economy, and develop public service sectors such as health, education, infrastructure, recreation, and tourism.

The project’s main objective was to implement automation for the cooling system of a production facility, aiming to control the temperature and relative humidity. At the same time, another project’s objective was to achieve substantial energy savings. The warehouse in question is dedicated to Starbucks’ expansion in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which intends to reach 700 locations by the end of 2022.

The system automation included local control panels for compressors, ammonia leakage control panels, utility control panels, and SCADA applications.

The five compressors are divided into three pieces for refrigeration and two items for freezing. There are also integrated three types of cooling systems: glycol system, chilled water system, and ammonia system. Frequency converters were used on all consumers of the plant room, and modulating valves were used on all unit coolers of the cold rooms for energy saving.

This definitely was a project with many challenges, overcome by a complex team of Technoelectric specialists, including Andreea STOICIU – Project Manager, Marius SIMILEANU – Electrical Installation Manager, and Victor MARUNEAC – Project Manager. The production department team also made significant efforts to ensure that all project requirements were implemented in an efficient manner and that they could be delivered on time.
