Cătălin has been an electrician and part of the team for six years, during which time he has contributed to the success of numerous international projects. His ambition to learn and become better led him to choose new professional challenges.
He told us about this choice and what it means for him to be an electrician in a few lines below:
1. What made you choose this profession? Is passion a profession? Did you always find this occupation interesting? What is your professional course?
I always wanted to be an electronics engineer because I saw the cleanliness of the work environment and the unlimited possibilities of applying electronic devices. Being a radio-tv debugger and reaching a ceiling level due to the relatively low number of models and faults, I looked for a related area to get involved. The part of low currents in the installation industry made me discover another world that allowed me to apply the knowledge acquired in school and extended during my training career.
I ended up being an electrician in construction through an interesting situation, as a collaborator needed staff for a smart building equipped with BMS (Building Management System). I discovered then and there that being an electrician involves a lot of skills and knowledge.
2. Fewer and fewer people choose this profession. What would you say to those who are not yet decided whether to follow this professional path or not?
Many people associate an electrician with the construction site and the difficult working conditions. In my opinion, most of them even work in such contexts, maybe because they are not set to evolve and learn new things. I came across the mentality that a job is just that and it doesn’t give you other opportunities. 3. What are the qualities and skills that make a person a good electrician? A good electrician must be, first and foremost, a conscious and responsible person because of the danger to which he may be exposed. Then, knowing the secrets of the trade, he can accomplish extraordinary things in the electrical field; even a simple work, which is executed correctly, beautifully, and on time, can be a cause for joy.
4. What are the advantages of being an electrician? What about the disadvantages?
We must not forget that to be an electrician, in all its forms, is more and more widespread and used, thanks to technological advancement. Hence the disadvantage of people who are not determined to develop professionally, as they will remain overwhelmed by the situation.
Cătălin is one of the most ambitious members of the team, always ready for a new challenge. In this regard, he wants to take a verifier course to complete his knowledge.
